It's been a while since I used KDE, but I believe that you can right click the desktop and go into the properties, and there will be some options that you can enable/disable for icons appearing on the desktop. You can then just remove the checked item, and then it'll stop appearing on the desktop.

 

Either that, or it can be done through Configure My Desktop, or you can press ALT-F2 and type kcontrol and then get to it through here.

Hi Ian ! i have been thru all your suggestions before i made post because they seem obvious . Unfortunatelly i deleted it and i can not recreate it now to give you more info . Maybe it was one of those first run self setup things that is fully automated and now it will not repeat . If it comes back i will post again with more info .
