Multiple wallpapers

SO, I'm new to linux, VERY new.

I have gotten Mandriva 2008 spring installed on my laptop now and it is working pretty well. I've been trying to get the 4 wallpapers to be different for the last week or so and I jsut cant seem to get it. Ive tried so many of the walkthroughs in so many different forums that my brain feels ready to explode! Each attempt at getting this to work has ended in me having to reinstall mandriva due to my messing something up horribly. I am using Gnome currently (3 tries in KDE) but Im still either not getting good links to downloads, or am not running the line commands correctly because im lost again =P.

I cant seem to get how you install new addons in to compiz. like the 'Wallpaper' addin?

I have yet to figure out how to put in commands that start with SUDO, i get bash errors that give me the impression that im somehow misspelling sudo...

I may need a very detailed walkthrough on how to get the 4 different wallpapers (one on each side of the cube), I hate having my hand held through something that is most likely quite easy, but i've tried all i can =)

any help would be appritiated. Thanks!

You are just messing things a bit more than required.

sudo related commands are Ubuntu specific. You can use it in Mandriva OK, but you must first install the sudo package and then run "visudo" as root to configure it.

Anyway, you can have most of the sudo functionality using gksu (under Gnome) or kdesu (under KDE).

As for compiz, I'm sorry but I can't answer- not using such things...
