      Mandriva Official Documentation

Official documentation for extant versions of Mandriva can be found at doc.mandriva.com.   Documentation for the latest release may take some time to appear there. You can install all the manuals from the main repository if you have Mandriva installed - files are prefixed mandriva-doc.

      Forum software upgrade   10/29/17

So you may have noticed the forum software has upgraded !!!
A few things that have changed. We no longer have community blogs (was never really used) We no longer have a portal page.
We can discuss this, and decide whether it is needed (It costs money) See this thread: Here

VIA C3 processors and Mandriva

Recommended Posts

THAT would certainly explain it.

anyone know how far back in MDV history we'd have to go to find one of those?

You don't need a 386 kernel, a (genuine) 586 kernel will work too, just not a 686.

Just an update to this old thread, I tried installing Mandriva 2010.0 onto my VIA C3 "Samuel 2" (without the cmov instruction) mini-PC and while the "One" version failed to boot the live desktop, I'm happy to say that the "Powerpack" version installs and boots fine.

So that means Mandriva 2010.0 is again VIA C3 compatible (I assume that the "Free DVD" version will install just like the "Powerpack" version, since they are the same, apart from the extra packages in the "Powerpack" version).

Thats good to know. I recently pulled an old Epia 5000 with a C3 533MHz processor out of a box (it still posts!) and was wondering what I could do with the board. I'm going to have to cut down some of the high-end desktop graphics, but I'll give it a whirl.
