I think I have a general problem with KDE & Mnk 9.1. As I said in another post, I have no screensavers in KDE....I tried all the helps that were suggested with no luck. [i do have screensavers in Gnome]. Here's another problem: When I right click on the desktop in KDE I do not get a menu! All I get is a little white bar about an inch long and 1/16 inch wide. Which leads me to think I have a general problem with KDE. Anyone have any ideas? Sure would appreciate any help. TIA. :banghead:

i use KDE & i've come across the phenomenon of the little white bar.....

All I get is a little white bar about an inch long and 1/16 inch wide.

i've yet to figure out why that happens. it's a very random occurence. one thing i have noticed is that it seems to happen after downloading a MDK update, or installing/uninstalling a package. i've also noticed that it affects Konqueror, but it never affects all menus at once. what i've done to make the menus return to normal is refresh the desktop. sometimes that works. other times, if it's more stubborn, i log off as user, then i log back on & all is well. i think it may be a KDE bug of some sort, since i'm not the only one this happens to. as for screensavers, they should have been installed by default in KDE, if that's what you're looking for (KDE screensavers). actually, there's not that many of them & they're pretty lame. have you opened up KDEControlCenter, looked under "look & feel", & tried to access screensavers from there? that, or right clicking on the desktop & choosing "configure" should get you to them. if you're sure that you don't have them, then have you checked in MCC under add software packages? if they aren't installed (for whatever reason) you should be able to install the packages from there. might i suggest you look into "xscreensavers". there's tons there & a lot better eye candy then KDE screensavers.

I believe there is an option somewhere in the KDE control panel/ look and feel that controls the left-middle-right mouse button click menues. Maybe look around there for a fix? (sorry, not at my machine at this time)

I had a similar problem last night, plus my desktop decided to open all icons on single clicks rather than double clicks. Right pain in the a$$!

you can change mouse properties from kde look and feel peripherals mouse

Scoopy , Floyd & all:

Thanks for your help. The white bar is gone! As suggested, I went to Look & Feel>Behavior and there it all is. I entered Desktop Menu for Rt. Button then Apply and wow there it is!

Now if I could get the KDE Screensavers working ...but who cares? The xscreensavers work and are better anyway!

:D
