Kylix problem

Hi

I'm about to sometime start a very very simple Mplayer frontend. Not related to static's idea. I'm considering using Kylix (C++) or if i can't get kylix going i'm going to use Python/Tkinter.

 

However i can't even compile a simple project, absolutely nothing done at all, in Kylix.

I get a problem with this line in time.h

 

typedef __clock_t clock_t;

 

And a huge list of errors

 

The errors and time.h are below. I' ve updated Kylix but that didn't fix it. This happens when I compile a new clean project and it also happened when i was going through the Kylix C++ Text Editor tutorial. I have kylix installed to /home/james/programs/kylix/

This is a common problem if you have Mandrake 9.1 or any recent distribution. It is probably something to do with the glibc version.

Have a look in the Borland newsgroups under Kylix, you'll find lots of possible answers. (re-ordering the includes, installing 'compat' libs etc) Also, search this board with 'Kylix', there should be a few posts..

You need to get compat-glibc. There is a Red Hat RPM that works fine at RPM Seek.

Then

Start the C++ part of Kylix. Set the include and library paths to the compatibl$

version of glibc by going to the "Directories/conditionals" tab of Project

options.

In the Include Path field, replace /usr/include with

/usr/i386-glibc21-linux/include. Move this entry to the top of the list.

In the Library Path field, replace /usr/lib with /usr/i386-glibc21-linux/lib and

move the entry to the top of the list.

Make this changes the default setting by checking the Default box before closin$

the Project options.

 

If you are going to use STL go to here and get a patch

It's because it needs an older version of glibc.
