jonny2gunz
I just installed Mandrive 2008 Spring on my system after I installed a new mobo (Biostar TForce TF8200 with integrated GeForce 8200) and the sound is working but terrible. It has a lot of interrmittent static. I've tried switching audio drivers around without much effect. Can anybody offer me some help please? I've been a long time Mandrake/Mandriva user and this is just driving me nuts.

jonny2gunz
I gave the realtek download a try and ran the installer -- sound still has static. ffi, is it worth going through the steps you mentioned or is that redundant at this point? jonny2gunz
I gave up and just pulled a separate sound blaster card out of an old machine and disabled my on board sound. I also pull an old separate geforce 6200 card and am using that in place of my on board 8200 because the 8200 generates a bunch of nasty artifacts when using compiz-fusion. So much for the little upgrades I was hoping to get with this new mobo. I really appreciate the help, thanks again.
AussieJohn
I think it sounds more like a defective Board regardless of it being new. I would suggest returning it if possible and replacing it. On board audio chips are cheap, that is why they are used. I say that even though I use it myself. :D Cheers. John. scarecrow
Maybe trying a newer kernel revision? Your lspci lists too many "unknown devices".
