Guest ions
I'm back to KDE 3.1 due to the fact that right now it runs a lot faster and more stable than Gnome. More info here: http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php?t=6271 I still have a couple of stability or possible bugs in KDE that I'd like to deal with. Or I guess they could possibly be Mandrake bugs. None of my settings stick. For example DrakGw insists on enabling itself everytime I turn the machine on. Unless I disable it I have no internet. This started happening after I tried using DrakGw to set up ICS. None of my folder settings stick - view modes, size, or pane size. This is in Konqueror. chris z
i don't know about the DrakGw, but if you want settings to stick in KDE, (i'm not in front of my Linux machine right now, so i'm going from memory) when you open file manager, Konqueror, KMail, etc., look at the options at the top of the tool bar (IE. tools, settings, etc.). one of them has "save view profile" or "save (something) profile". click on that & choose apply/save for that particular window & it will open that way for you each time. I would go into MCC->System->Services (I believe that's where you'll find it) and check to see if there is an entry for DrakGw, and if that entry is set to start at boot. If there is, and it is, turn it off.
Guest ions
DrakGw is not listed there. Is it possible that the service goes by a different name here? There is no ICS option but here is "Network" and "Internet".
Guest ions
Since I'm apparently unable to fix this problem what are my reinstall options? Can I reinstall the OS and not lose any data on the drive or am I looking at a full format and start over?
bvc
see if you find a drakgw with chkconfig --list or service -s See: chkconfig --help service --help

Just a thought. I still need to set this PC up for Internet Connection Sharing and I've been delaying that until I get this problem resolved. Is it possible that configuring that will solve this DrakGw problem? Just grasping for straws now.
Guest ions
Well I no longer have DrakGw hassling me. I did a fresh install of Mandrake in what I thought was the root partition but now I can't seem to get at anything else that was on the drive. How can I figure out if it's still around or not? Where did it go?
