I have been reading about hard drive's health and mine are konw several years old with constant use. I have seen another operating system who benefits of a lot of interresting tools like http://www.snapfiles.com/screenshots/hddhealth.htm with a nice GUI and wondered if there is such athing for hardmontools under Linux. AussieJohn Posted May 26, 2008 Report Share Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) If your Hard Drives have S.M.A.R.T. capability and it can be activated in the bios of your machine then urpmi and install Ksensors and smartmontools. You then must open Konsole and su to root, enter your root password then type in sensors-detect and click YES all the way through. This is one of those rare times when you have to reboot. When you have rebooted then go Menu then Tools then System Tools and click on Ksensors and follow from there Below is a screenshot of my setup. The two Orange are the temperatures of the Two Cores of my CPU, the blue is the CPU fan speed, the Green is the System fan speed, the Yellow is the Case temperature and the two Pink are the two SATA II Hard Drive temperatures.
