phunni
But do we need to make more noise to encourage different habits when approaching linux gaming?
tyme
maybe towards linux users, but not towards game makers.
phunni
That's what I meant - so, how do we go about doing that then? I'd be all up for trying to improve attitudes to gaming
zero0w
I have a feeling that if someone picked up Loki's business model nowadays, it might be much easier to have a stable revenue stream than before, as desktop Linux is much more closer to reality, than, say 2-3 years ago. DOlson
LGP is doing what Loki did, but they are doing it better. How? They are porting titles they can afford, titles that will stand a chance to make a profit on Linux (which isn't easy to do), and by not mass-producing stock for a non-existant market. If they continue as they are, they should be able to, over the course of time, bring many good games to our platform. The difference between Loki and LGP is big, yet at the same time it is small. Embrace the future of Linux gaming. Support LGP.
static
I have a feeling that if someone picked up Loki's business model nowadays, it might be much easier to have a stable revenue stream than before, as desktop Linux is much more closer to reality, than, say 2-3 years ago. This would also be because the pres of Loki was stupid with the money. He was terrible enough with financing that he took out himself as well as Loki. But also it's getting easier to approach the linux community in general. [about making noise] maybe towards linux users, but not towards game makers. Bingo :!: We need some people to quit being cheapskates and toting kazaa with wine. There are already more games for linux than anybody has time to play - it's NEW games as they come out that we'd like to see available without some other company having to port it for us (and winex is right out). A little respect - you know? They are ready to give it; if we deserve it.
