tyme 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 * I find the Board Guidelines a bit draconian. Sure, it is a good idea to moderate the forum and nip ad hominem attacks at the bud, but reading your PC guidelines just turns me off. It is enough to stop me from signing up [not that I would be missed anyway].Well, it's the same guidelines that are in place here, pretty much....
David Batson 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 Well, it's the same guidelines that are in place here, pretty much.... Upon reading them just now, I concede your point. Personally I find the guidelines at forum.mandriva.com much more tuned to my way of thinking. That said, I do find mandrivausers.org to be a good forum. I believe I read a post earlier in this thread where Mandriva the company decided to create their own forum instead of using this existing MUB forum. Could this forum's rules and guidelines [read: moderation philosphy] have been a factor in that decision?

Could this forum's rules and guidelines [read: moderation philosphy] have been a factor in that decision? I don't really believe what I just wrote above. Mandriva the company most likely just wanted their forum entirely under their control.
tyme 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2008 (edited) Yeah, having control was the reason they made their own, IIRC. I think they did offer some of the mods/admins here some sort of incentive to help them with the forum (or some attempt to have the people here go there), but the mods/admins turned the offer down. I may be remembering incorrectly, though... Edited May 2, 2008 by tyme
