mtweidmann
Does anyone know of a program that can display the information stored in .wav file header? I don't need to play the file, just know the frequency, word size (eg 8 16 32) and number of channels. I've found hundreds of programs that can give me this info for mp3/ogg files, but I need it for plain old wav files. Can be either Linux or Windows based, but Linux would be better. Suggestions much appreciated! Background: I designing a piece of software to play back .wav files for a Uni project. Part of it is a routine that reads the file header and decodes its. I'm pretty sure what I've written is correct but it would be nice to get some confirmation.
Germ
Do you use KDE? Open KFM and right click the .wav, choose "Properties", and under the Meta Info tab the Length, Sample Size, Sample Rate, and Channels will be listed. /germ
mtweidmann
Tried that, no luck. I only get 2 tabs, "General" and "Permissions", neither of them give any details about the file. :(
paleo
I remeber seeing something called waveedit or something like that on the mandrake CDs. I don't know what it does exactly but it's for editing wav files so maybe it's something for you.
