Nice site. Could you say something contrasting your site from Seer of Souls, MDE, or PLF? I am just curious as to where your stuff fits in. Also, do you have an ftp link for incorporation into urpmi? It would be nice for you to post it.

Common sense could be a reason for the opposite (not making your own repo).

What is the underlying rationale of this common sense?

Common sense could work in both ways, common sense could tell you that by joining an existing repo you could reach a larger audience quicker and easier but at a cost to individual reputation. Whereas on the flipside, common sense could also tell you that you could maintain independence, work harder and longer to obtain individual reputation and prestige.

But I was asking about his motivation.

Autonomy and Pride can be motivators. By maintaining his independence he has full control to do what he wants, when he wants. He doesn't need to adhere to anyone elses agenda but his own. These values are known to motivate individuals, in fact they fit in with Maslow's "Self Esteem" need on his hierarchy of needs.

Common sense could tell you that by working with other guys you could do a bigger repo therefore a more visited one than just by yourself. So if you're doing it for fame then it's actually wiser to team up with somebody.

Working with somebody doesn't mean you won't have individual reputation.

Joining an already existing repo has also the benefit that your work won't disappear when you had enough of making rpms. You can also lure some other people to make more and better packages. Common sense could tell you that.

But the main thing I was first thinking about is that these repos are not built against each other. So having fewer repos means more stable system.

Autonomy and Pride can be motivators. By maintaining his independence he has full control to do what he wants, when he wants. He doesn't need to adhere to anyone elses agenda but his own. Talking about his motivations with you is pointless IMHO so no comment on this part. Or are you mapi Reiver?

Please translate the above word into English please.

I believe mapi is the OP's nick, do you understand now? :D

Why don't you guys quit arguing about his motives, and just thank him for his work?

@ mapi, Thanks for your work on this repository, it looks good. :)
