anyone have a motherboard with a VIA C7?

I bought a MB with an integrated CPU and fan that has a VIAC7 P-4 "alike" cpu

 

The goal was to buid a car computer, bottom line is i need a coupel hundred gigs for mp3s, so it doesnt have to be a HUGELY powerful system.

 

biught a slimline case, bought the cpu, ram and cpu off ebay.

 

UBUNUTU 7 loads and runs fine.

 

The new gOS runs fine.

 

what I want is a stripped down loads from a USB key linux OS that will load and run.

 

everything related to mandriva seems tu be a no go. I have found some instructions for loading some unichrome video drivers in mandriva, but havent tried them yet.

 

I KNOW that MDV 2008 wont run, but i DONT understand why.

 

Does UBU or gOS (an UBU based distro) have something 'special' loaded by feafult?

 

anyone have ANY experience or success getting any MDV based dustro working?

 

PClinuxOS is a MDV based system and it wiont load either.
