NavyLT
Is it just me, or is there no way to shut down the computer from within Gnome with 2008.1 Alpha 2? I can't find a power down option anywhere... Can someone please point me to the proper menu or confirm so I can bug report? Thanks! dexter11
This problem occurs when you don't use the matching login manager to your DE (Gnome needs GDM) and\or you are using one of the 3D desktop enviroments.

Greg2
If you're using Gnome, then do urpmi gdm to install the matching login manager.
ianw1974
Then, you can change it within System/Configuration/Configure Your Computer (also known as MCC - Mandriva Control Centre) or wherever it's located now, and somewhere in here is the option to change the Display Manager from KDM to GDM (there is also xdm but it's very basic).
