Guest MandrivaNewb
I have a copy of Pass4Sure for Cisco that I am using on my XP laptop at work, and would like to install on Mandriva at home. Is this possible, or do I need to locate a Linux version of the same app? When I attempt to use ARK to unrar the package I get an error stating the utility is not in my PATH. This is a fairly new installation of Mandriva and I have not really tweaked it yet. The only thing I have been able to accomplish thus far is setting up so I can VPN back to work - negating the need to lug the laptop home every night. Any help installing the Pass4Sure would be greatly appreciated, then I can move on to getting my dual monitors working........
{BBI}Nexus{BBI}
It would be preferable to find a GNU/Linux version. You need to have the kdeutils-ark package installed on your system. You can either do this using the Mandriva Control Centre or from commandline as root. Type: su enter your root password, then do: urpmi kdeutils-ark. Failing all the above you may be able to run the app using wine.
scarecrow
ark can unpack rar archives, but the cli backbone must be installed. So: urpmi unrar Or you can take rarlinux from winrar site and put unrar and rar executables in some system path, e.g. /usr/local/bin Ark will work after that (for unpacking). dexter11
Or install unrar from the plf repos.
Mitchell
I agree with the above, there is almost always a better open source version of propriety software, however, if you need that windows program, I'd consider running windows xp through virtualbox. You will need at least 1gb of Ram for it to run at normal speed, or 512 mb if you don't mind it being super slow. Excellent solution. If I ever had to go back to Microsoft, this is definitely what I'd do. ~Mitchell
