I had a similar problem with the cds. Could not figure it out so: Did a boot with cd1 and selected 'upgrade'.

It put them back in place (it appeared the same as I had been trying to do manually). I dont know if it will help in your situation.

My computer's something else...

 

I logged remotely into my computer from work and my menus were back to the way the used to be and everything seems to be fine in that respect. I knew the programs weren't gone, I'm just not sure where they went for that short time.

 

I haven't tried the the boot from cds yet (i'm still at work), but I'll try that when I get home.

 

offtopic:tyme, I'll give you a hint: we live in the same state ;)
