Hi there, i have a major problem.

I've installed 2008 One Gnome version and it too doesn't automount any of my usb devices. I encountered the same problem on every Linux distro that uses kernel version 2.6.20 and above, namely Ubuntu 7.04/7.10, Fedora 7/8, Suse 10.3.

These devices work well on older kernels like in Debian 4.0, MDV 2007.1 and PCLinuxOS 2007.

I really need a USB support, please help!

The same problem on Kubuntu.

Install another kernel and boot to it? I don't remember if Mandriva still hides kernels from RPMDrake or not, if they do you might have to do it from the command line...I personally haven't done it on Mandriva, at least not recently...

  • 2 months later...

If it's a multi distro bug, file a bug on the kernel bugzilla. Mandriva will probably just ignore it and wait for an upstream fix.

If the bugs on either havnt been triaged/commented on after a few weeks, bug them and provide alll the information they ask for. If they still dont fix it, keep bugging them.
