Reason -2ipw2200: Unable to load firmware: -2 ipw2200: failed to register network device. ipw2200: probe of 0000:02:04.0 failed with error -5 What do need to do to get any further with my wireless device. Thanks in advance. Edited November 14, 2007 by Dhruv
Greg2
If you haven't already done so, please set up your software repos using the Easy-urpmi tool. Add all the repos, including the plf-free and plf-nonfree. Then with your Software management tool, install the ipw2200-firmware from the plf repo. Now you should be able to set up your wireless. Welcome to the board! :)

Greg2
it would great if you could tell me what is wrong now with the my firmware??? I'm guessing that you don't have any installed yet. Look in your /lib/firmware directory for ipw2200? You can d/l it from here: /pub/plf/mandriva/2008.0 and transfer it to your laptop, then install it. Guest Dhruv
Thanks! I guess you might be right about this. Will check my laptop's /lib/firmware directory. In case you are right, could just download the rpm and install it with out hickups? Will try anyway. Thanks
