Very slow internet connections

I've installed MDV One on HD after many problems...

Now it works but the internet connections are very slow ( download speed are normal ,fine..) .

I 've an Adsl ethernet line . A normal modem ( not a router...) .

I 've done the adsl-setup installation procedure then I do pppoe-start to start ppp .

Try this:

 

dig @192.168.1.1 linux.org

 

does it resolve? If not, then that is why your internet response is slow. Your /etc/resolv.conf has this entry, so makes me believe you're running local DNS, or, that it's misconfigured. Considering your IP range of 192.168.100.0 I would say this is the cause.

If that server does not exist as a DNS server, then it will not respond to DNS queries. When you try to check it for DNS, your system will wait before it moves on to the next DNS server. And this is why I think your internet browsing is slow. I know because I've had similar when my system was configured for multiple static IP's when I'm at home or in office.

 

So, did the command I give you reply with resolving DNS or not?

I've called my ISP for DNS numbers ...and thjis has solved..

I've never had this problem....shouldn't DHP do it automatically ?

 

About your test , I'm not sure to get it .....do you mean this >>>

You need to install bind-utils.
