Artificial Intelligence
With the new version of EVE-Online comes support for Linux and OSX clients. The Linux and OSX is based on Transgaming Inc. technology and comes in various package formats (.deb .rpm .tgz). No need for purchasing or extra cost by using these clients - You pay the same amount as the Windows user. To get the Linux and OSX client you have to request it on technical petitions for the time being. Source: Ubuntu Gamers Arena
tyme
I know you need Cedega for the Linux version, but does that come with the client or do you have to pay the Cedega subscription fee? I wonder...
SoulSe
afaik everything is bundled - you just buy the game and install it. The Trasngaming technology is supposed to be transparent, so that to the end user it seems like the game is running natively.
Artificial Intelligence
I know you need Cedega for the Linux version, but does that come with the client or do you have to pay the Cedega subscription fee? I wonder... I thought I made it cleared in my first post . You don't need Cedega. The linux /OSX client is build upon the Cedega/cider engine, but that's it - You simple request (which are also described in the link) the linux client which comes in .deb/.rpm/.tgz from EVE-Online.com without any extra charge. tyme
I had heard conflicting reports prior to the release. Hence the question for clarification purposes...(more for others than for my own, I'll know when I get home in 2 hours).

Have to try the Linux version yet...
esulcer
That's no fair being able to edit your posts without it showing up as having been edited ;) ^^ I thought AI had made it clear in the original post that there was need for Cedega, or more cost etc. Edited November 8, 2007 by esulcer

After re-reading AI's original post, you're right, he did make it clear (I just wasn't reading it right).
FX
Game looks kind of cool. Just don't know if I would like it or not so I don't want to pay and then find out its not for me. Nice to see it made playable or more made more easily to run on Linux though. Edit: Duh looks as though they have a "try" deal. :D Edited November 8, 2007 by FX
tyme
Edit: Duh looks as though they have a "try" deal. :DThat they do...the game takes a little bit to really get into, and there are times when you'll want something else to do while you're waiting for your ship to make its way across space but it's definitely unique - I personally can't wait for the ability to get out of your ship and wander around space stations (coming in Trinity next month) - it may finally reach the level of one of my fav (now dead) MMO's, Earth & Beyond. FX
I was wondering about the long space travel part of it. Wondering if there was like a warp drive deal or not. lol
tyme
You do have a warp drive that speeds up travel when going across a sector, and there are stargates to jump you between sectors, but travel is not instantaneous.
