spinynorman
Welcome to the board. :) Drag and drop the Trash icon onto the panel; then click once on the icon on the desktop, press the Delete key, and click the Move to Trash button. I don't know if the Desktop icon will reappear when you login again - you'll have to try it and see.
scarecrow
Errrm...what about deleting it? :D If you ever want it back, then simply touch /home/fireblade/Desktop/Trash.desktop ...and then edit the created file Trash.desktop like that: [Desktop Entry] Comment=Contains removed files EmptyIcon=trashcan_empty Encoding=UTF-8 Icon=trashcan_full Name=Trash Type=Link URL=trash:/ Without the icon, you can simply fire up konqueror or any KDE filemanager, and type in "trash:/" in the address bar. arctic
In case that you use Gnome instead of KDE as your desktop, the trash can can be deactivated using the gconf-editor -> applications -> nautilus -> show trash icon.
