Gul Dukat
Hi, I've just recently reinstalled my laptop, which has ATi Radeon X700 graphical card, decided not to use the closed-source driver from ATi itself, but instead use the opensource driver ati. But I also came across a opensource driver called radeon. I can't seem to find any reference to what the difference is between those 2 drivers, ati and radeon. I was hoping someone here could help me out. I would greatly appreciate that. Thanks in advance.
scarecrow
There's no "ati" driver, really. It is just a "clever" script which probes your hardware, and depending on its type it loads the proper module - which can be "atimisc", "r128" or "radeon". In your case it's the latter.
