FX
Got this in an email tonight... Dear Customer, Our robot has detected an abnormal activity from your IP adress on sending e-mails. Probably it is connected with the last epidemic of a worm which does not have official patches at the moment. We recommend you to install this patch to remove worm files and stop email sending, otherwise your account will be blocked. Customer Support Center Robot Didn't think I had that port open. Apache2 was running but didn't think it was open. In fact went to my router port 21 was not open or I didn't have it setup to access the net. Is this a legit email? This is the address it came from...... dtb@apachecorp.com Edit: Personally I don't think it is legit. Edited July 10, 2007 by FX
jaraeez
Without any further evidence I can honestly say this is a hoax. Did you check the message source of the Email? This should enlighten you a little. The patch that they recommend to install is most likley an 'exe' file?
SilverSurfer60
I've just done a search on apachecorp.com and brings up a website for a petroleum research company in Australia? It looks a fake to me.
jkerr82508
This message is spam, designed to trap Windows users into installing malware. My ISP has issued a warning that there are variations that masquerade as coming from ISP "customer support" sites. Jim

FX
What I figured and deleted. Also using Mail in OSX I'm not sure how to find out about the sender.......... yet. I looked around a bit last night in the mail program but wasn't able to find anything. I did do a google search for that company but nothing came up right away so I just said the heck with it. lol Thanks
tyme
To see full headers for one e-mail, when you open the message go into the View menu, select Message and then Long Headers (IIRC). If you want to see full headers for all messages you open, you can set it in the Mail menu, under the Viewing icon - once there, set Show header detail to All.
