      Mandriva Official Documentation

Official documentation for extant versions of Mandriva can be found at doc.mandriva.com.   Documentation for the latest release may take some time to appear there. You can install all the manuals from the main repository if you have Mandriva installed - files are prefixed mandriva-doc.

How to change default language without re-installing.

Recommended Posts

I chose romanian, but although it's my native language, i'm used to the english interface and besides, the romanian translation is really strange, some words are awfully translated.

My guess would be to boot with the First Install CD>press F1>type expert>and do an Upgrade not Install. It will go throught the entire install and allow you to change anything (except already installed pkgs). The pkgs for romanian though should be removed when it upgrades/updates the english.

Actually I take that back. After an Upgrade you should then have a linux and a linux.old (or something) in the bootloader, enabling you to boot to the old config.

Well, there is a easier way to do it then u sugested : just type in the console localedrake and you will be able to change between languages.

I changed to english, but there is a problem, the garbage bin has the icon of a directory. I managed to change the icon into the normal one, but now when i delete smth, the garbage bin icon doesn't change to show that there is smth .

What can i do to make it work in a normal way ??????

Sorry :!:

I also just saw...... kde control panel>Personalization>Country & Language. I would think Gnome would have something similar. Dk your trash prob. I've always use fluxbox/blackbox/icewm/ and occasionally gnome, I'm new to kde. Don't use trash...I just delete :)

Guest ool

Go to console as root and /usr/sbin/localedrake then choose language. This will change language of your system. You can do it as user and change language just for that user. But first you have to install language packages.

Good luck
