Toronto Kpowersave battery detection fails

Hi everybody!

I'm using MCNLIVE toronto on a USB stick, with all the hardware and added software configured and installed in a persistent loop and and it works pretty good, but ... the Kpowersave always shows on the bar that my Acer TravelMate 4200 is always plugged-in, even when it's not... the battery icon with the charge level info doesn't come out, never.

Being a fresh user of Mandriva and Linux in general, did I forget something or what?

Can anyone answer me, please?

Apart from this, MCNLIVE Toronto is excellent (the persistent loop is a great thing), it detected all the TM4200 hardware without any trouble (bluetooth, wireless, etc.), except for the conexant modem, but the story is well known and with the linuxant drivers free all was solved quickly.

Thanks and best regards

Emanuele

Just saw your question. You already found the solution :-)

Yes, the acpi service is not enabled by default, in live mode.

And is needed for the battery and powersave stuff.

Hope you enjoy Toronto.

Thanks to both of you for giving the solution. I was headed to this forum to post this as an issue :-)

PS: Chris, thanks for a wonderful distro. It just flies on my laptop.

PPS: I am an old time mandrake (9.0 to 10.1) / pclos (since preview 4) user & so mcnlive fits right in with me.
