mindwave
Ok, The last app in my move from won to Linux is a good gui based web page builder. I maintain 6 different sites and over the years I have used notepad, frontpage, word, coffee cup, hot dog, cold fusion and many many more. my typing abilities and todays software capabilities make (to me) th idea of hand coding html a really bad idea. currently i use frontpage and coffecup, but am pretty open minded. what i LIKE is something that has 1/2 dozen or so, templates, from which to draw ideas, steal code, and the ability to edit existing pages by downloading the .html and working from there. please anyne who is using such an app i REALLY am looking o make the switch and honestly i've not spent much time with NVU and that ma be what I'm missing. any and all ideas are welcome. Thanks J [moved from Software by spinynorman]
tyme
NVU is probably the most popular WYSIWYG site builder. Most other ones available in Linux (that I've used, anyways) you still have to hand code (IMHO, this is really the best way, I have yet to find a WYSIWYG editor that always creates standards-compliant pages). neddie
This other thread has a few useful suggestions. Personally I had a look at some of the wysiwyg ones but went back to Kate. With a few splashes of java and perl for maintenance, and Gimp and Inkscape for the graphics it works pretty well.
iphitus
Depending on what the site requires, and what server you have available, you could use an out of the box cms like e107, drupal or joomla. If its a bloggy type thing, theres such things as wordpress, and then theme it yourself. James

tyme
yeah, it's owned by lycos now. I also had a geocities site, which I think was bought out by Yahoo. I didn't start hosting my sites myself until college.
neddie
Ah, nostalgia. My first (internet-visible) website was at fortunecity, donkeys' years ago, which is probably archived somewhere. But I still have one at geocities - oh, the shame!
