sparrish
Hi everyone, I recently upgraded to Mandriva 2007.1 (installed from One disc). Everything is working okay, except that I can't seem to get a resolution higher than 1024x768. I'm using an LCD with a 1280x1024 native resolution, and my xorg.conf file is configured correctly (as far as I can tell). However, KDE isn't showing any higher resolutions. Anyone have any thoughts? Here is my xorg.conf file for reference: # File generated by XFdrake (rev 142098) # ********************************************************************** # Refer to the xorg.conf man page for details about the format of # this file. # ********************************************************************** Section "Files" ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia97xx" ModulePath "/usr/lib/xorg/modules" # font server independent of the X server to render fonts. AussieJohn
It sounds like you have not installed the correct driver for your Video card and at present only have a generic driver for video cards instead. It says the driver is nv and not nvidia so it is saying only the generic driver is installed. Use MCC and download the rpm package dkms-invidia97xx-1.0-9755, it will want to install a number of other dependancy packages as well. Download them and it will automatically install them. When done, I recommend rebooting although same say it is not really necessary. Then you should be able to select the resolution you desire. Hope this helps. Cheers. John. scarecrow
Try the proprietary nvidia driver. On my TFT monitor the xorg driver does not work at all when using the dvi connector- I have to use either the proprietary one, or vesa. sparrish
Thanks for the assistance. I'm giving the proprietary driver a try. The card is a GeForce 6100 integrated chip. I did have the nvidia driver installed, but forgot that I switched kernels. I'll let you know how it works out.
mikemck
One more thought -- try selecting plug-and-play as the monitor type. That and the current graphics card driver (ati) worked for me on my Viewsonic VX2035wm display on 2007.
