problem with urpmi [solved]

hi everyone.

just installed mandriva free spring 2007 and configured the "easy urpmi" but when i want to install something like

 urpmi xchm

i get "urpmi : command not found". pls can someone direct me.

You must be a root to use urpmi. Type:

su 
your-root-password
urpmi xchm

i tried the above but i get

[root@localhost petes]# urpmi xchm

No package named xchm

[ilia_kr]

That means that urpmi can't find the package name you entered.

Try to type in a full package name.

Have you added repository mirrors to urpmi earlier?

What does

urpmq --list-media

returns?

 

Most probably that you haven't configured your urpmi mirror list, because i can install xchm on my pc. Go to EasyUrpmi page to add your repo mirrors.

urpmq --list-media

returns?

i am now going through the easy-urpmi again and i post my reply if it works.
