misfitpierce
You could try finding the .mozilla folder and renaming it to mozilla.old to start a fresh folder and see if it starts perhaps?
ilia_kr
When this happens The only thing so far to fix it was rebooting the system, so obviosly it is not a good thing to do. Maybe I'll just install the original FF from mozilla and stop using mandriva's?
misfitpierce
That could work I suppose.
ilia_kr
New one: each time i try to view a page that contains some flash i get this: [ilia@mdk ~]$ firefox Flash Player: Warning: environment variable G_FILENAME_ENCODING is set and is not UTF-8 /usr/lib/firefox-2.0.0.3/run-mozilla.sh: line 131: 4912 Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"} [ilia@mdk ~]$ WTF ? Â Same happens with the FF i downloaded from FF site, so it must be a flash-plugin problem. Any thoughts? tyme
I'd try removing the flash plugin and re-installing it, if you haven't already.
ilia_kr
Yes, I did. Ok now, but still i don't like that problems such as these appear from nowhere.

We just aren't sure what it was ;)

scarecrow
Did you try the latest version of flashplugin ( 9.0.31 )?
ilia_kr
I reinstalled the plugin as tyme said by downloading a rpm from adobe site, so i suppose it was the latest. According to "about:plugins" i have a Shockwave Flash 9.0 r31 plugin. Â Now FF turns off spontaneously, and i can't find any clue why it happens. Â I think AussieJohn had the same experience as i did with FF, look here.
scarecrow
Try running it through a debugger ( strace -o /home/ilia/firefoxerr.txt ), and after the crash read the last 50-60 lines of the debug output. Gowator
Well the error doesn't come back any more, so i guess this case is closed. Thanks everyone. Ilia, some sites just have maliceous code to crash anytihng but IE.... I found one last week... (someone posted a link)... so I just did a wget and retrieved the code .. it was actually documented as crash non IE browser... on the flash detection plug-in...also crashed konqueror ... Weird thing... I looked at the redirection for IE and pasted THAT into firefox and the rest of the site works fine, including flash... I guess some people just hate non MS products???
