Mandriva/Gentoo clock

Recommended Posts

After my Mandriva install was my time was way off. So I changed it to what it should be. Then I booted into Gentoo and my time there wasy way off. So now I'm back in Mandriva and my time is all messed again.

Any solutions?

My guess is that one distro thinks your hardware clock is UTC and the other thinks the hardware clock is local time. That can definitely cause confusion! When you say "way off" do you mean a whole number of hours off?

As scarecrow said, set your BIOS clock to localtime, and ensure that both your distributions expect the BIOS clock to be set to localtime (I don't know where gentoo hold this info, but Mandriva should have an option in MCC)

Ok, I think I found the problem. Even though I set the time zone during the install the file clock in gentoo was set to UTC. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
