I have curently installed Mandriviaon my new Xeon 3gig box with a Nvidia Quadro4 900 XGL with DUal DVI ports, it detects the monitor and installes all the 3D goodies but i cannot get dual monitors working. When i ran mandrake 9.1 on my older system running a matrox g4 dual head it always asked me if i wanted to use xinerama support. In Mandrivia, i cant figure out how to install it. When i log in to the desktop you get the Nvidia driver logo so i can see that the driver is installed > Or is it ?

Can any one help me on this ? ask me lots of questions if need be. I want to run my Dual 22" lcd's and would love to convert my winodws drive to linux ( yes remove windows and only use mandrivia)

Please help

Hey,

1st if the driver has loaded in a terminal as root run

XFdrake

which will run through a set of questions - try that. If no go then can you post your xorg.conf (/etc/X11/xorg.conf). Also as root run the command

lspci

in a terminal & post the results along with

lsmod

results. What is it you want Xinerama, Twinview, or seperate desktops? You say the Nvidia logo shows but I take it from your comments that you didn't install Nvidia drivers - if so what version of Mandriva are you running & what WM ex: KDE, Gnome?

There ya go some questions ;)

I was always able to do this and with my dual DVI get Nvidia Twinview going. My graphics card is a Quadro and it's great.

Section "Device"

Option "TwinView"

Option "MetaModes" "1680x1050,1680x1050"

Identifier "Videocard0"

Driver "nvidia"

VendorName "Videocard vendor"

BoardName "VESA driver (generic)"

EndSection

This was of course with identical monitors and was in the "Device" section of my /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.

Good luck,

Jon

Mine says this in that section

Section "Device"

Identifier "device1"

VendorName "nVidia Corp."

BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce4 (generic)"

Driver "nvidia"

Option "DPMS"

EndSection

Section "Screen"

Identifier "screen1"

Device "device1"

Monitor "monitor1"

DefaultColorDepth 24

what should i change it to ?

I had to enable the Twinview option and the meta modes are the screen resolutions for each monitor. So those first two lines in my Device section where what I had to add.

Keep us posted.
