Ahoy,

this is my first ever post although I have been rinning Mandrake 10.0 for several years on many different platforms I am novice at best. I am having problems running some graphics on things like Google Earth, Half-Life and some movies. I get a message that I am running 'OpenGL' with software emulation, thius things are slow (understatement).....

this is my hardware info from my Laptop vendor (Toshiba 1805)

Trident Cyberalladdin -T graphics controller

16MB external UMA VRAM video memory

3D graphice accelerator, AGP bus support

2D grpahic accelerator ; BitBLT hardware, Harware cursor, Direct Draw support.

HardDrake says my video card is CyberBlade/XP/DSTN/Ai1

is there something I can download to make my graphics pretty?

H

Nope, nothing more to download. Just post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and we will see if you can use some better settings, to have better 3D/GL acceleration- but a card that old isn't likely to perform well with modern applications.

"Direct Draw support" means absolutely nothing for Linux.

I cannot locate a xorg.conf file anywhere in the X11 directory, I did find several config files names XF86Config and XF86Config-4

both files seem to be the exact same, here is the contents.

# File generated by XFdrake.

# **********************************************************************

# Refer to the XF86Config man page for details about the format of

# this file.
