Hi all,

I'm a newbie to linux; and have just installed Mandriva on my laptop. I'm having trouble getting my Intel 2200BG wireless card to work. I have been trying to follow this post:

https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?showtop...=intel+firmware

http://learn.clemsonlinux.org/wiki/Mandrake:IPW2200

When I tried to configure the wireless network through the Mandriva control center, it reported that the firmware is missing. So I downloaded it from http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/firmware.php

and copied it to /lib/hotplug/firmware and /etc/firmware. But I realized that I could not find the hotplug script to enable in the Mandriva Control Center. Do I need to download and install hotplug as well? How do I do that? My kernel version is 2.6. I thought that this version came with the hotplug scripts.

Please help. I really am clueless on this one.

Thanks!!

Welcome to the board!

What version of Mandriva are you using? The instructions you reference are for 10.1, which is a rather old version, so depending on your version the instructions may have differed. Let us know what version and we'll go from there :) thanks!

Follow the instructions on the Easy-Urpmi page (link at the top of this page) then open a terminal and write:

su
<insert root password here>
urpmi ipw2200-firmware

then try configure wireless network again.
