ComputerDexter
as root try insmod acx before modprobe hth I redid everythig over again and this is what came up. cp: overwrite `/lib/firmware/tiacx111r17'? y [root@localhost acx111_1.2.1.34]# insmod acx insmod: can't read 'acx': No such file or directory [root@localhost acx111_1.2.1.34]# modprobe acx FATAL: Module acx not found. [root@localhost acx111_1.2.1.34]# I went to MCC and configured the Wireless connection (before I tried your suggestion) and as it says "congratulations you have set up ..." it freezes up and I have to reboot. I did this 4 times so i know it wasn't a fluke. ????
Greg2
FATAL: Module acx not found. Ok, that's my fault, sorry. I have too many different distros here. I see that Mandriva 2007.0 has acx-common, acx-pci, and acx-usb. What do you have a pci wireless card? So if you have a pci card, as root try: modprobe acx-pci You should however be able to go to MCC > Hardware > Look at and configure hareware, and set it up there. Then go to Network and Internet > Wireless connection, and set up that. Oh, and you don't have to keep doing 'everything' over. :) Edited March 25, 2007 by Greg2
ComputerDexter
OK! I am typing this over the wireless connection. I could not get the native drivers to work and they kept freezing up the computer everytime I tried to configure the wireless connection. I got lucky and a friend came over that is good on linux systems and I told him where I was at with it and we decided to try the ndiswrapper route. We downloaded the card's XP driver from the internet into a folder and configured it via the MCC option. and voila! I had access. I have learned a lot over the last few days and I want to thank everyone that offerd their suggestions and help...Thank You! "Everything should be made as siiimple as possible, but not simpler." jaraeez
well done - I've used Ndiswrapper for years with this chipset & rarely had any problems so fingers crossed ;)
Greg2
Congrats, I'm glad you have it working! :) However, would you please give me the model of your wireless device? I need this to try to replicate the problem and file a bug report, and to notify the Kernel devs... so that we (Linux users) will not always be dependent on windows drivers. ;)
Guest x-rouge
hi i have the same chipset acx111, i installed the fireware and now i wanted to do the mcc part. after i did: modprobe acx-pci the i did mcc, network internet, then new network, wireless, select the card (linksys wpc54G) then i get and error. unable to find network interface for selected device (using acx-pci) driver anyone knows a solution? could it be i made a mistake with the fireware i use? I hope someone knows.
