ive been trying to get the sega genisis "gens" to work on mandriva 2007 powerpack edition

i was advised to get the gens for gnome linux, so all i could find was gnome-gens-0.alpha3.tar.tar

but im not sure how to install it?

is it the same as a tar.bz2 or tar.gz

as when i try i get so far then get errors

[john@localhost Desktop]$ cd /home/john

[john@localhost ~]$ cd gnome-gens-0.alpha3

[john@localhost gnome-gens-0.alpha3]$ ./configure

creating cache ./config.cache
