Hello All,

Goodmorning...

I have Mnadriva2007 in my office and I setup ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) using mandriva2007

and my internet connection is working properly.

I Installed Bind, DHCP, and Iptables...

My question is How can i block other URL's like yahoo.com or pornosite...because other PC's browsing any website.

Please anyone can guide me...

Thank you

Are you familiar with a host file? This file (/etc/hosts) can be used to block sites. A sample piece of my hosts file looks like this:

127.0.0.1 localhost

127.0.0.1 007arcadegames.com

127.0.0.1 101order.com

This piece would block 007arcadegames.com and 101order.com. You can make the file as long as you like to block as many sites as you like. More information can be found here: http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/

Alternative is to use squid proxy with dansguardian.

All the browsers should be configured to use the squid proxy, and dansguardian is linked with squid to block porn sites, etc, etc, etc.

I think that is for windows yes i know that and i never try to modify it...how about linux? is there any way to to block the URL...
Read what daniewicz said again - he's talking about Linux! It's the same idea, just that the file lives in a slightly different place (as daniewicz says, the file is /etc/hosts).

If you want true blocking than dansguardian is your man -- not only uses lists of blocked urls & domains (which you can get from a couple of sources), but can also block on content. Using squid as caching proxy will use your internet connection somewhat more conomoical (but do not expect miracles from it; I save ~10% of bytes by using a 256 Mb proxy).
