Peter_APIIT Posted January 24, 2007 Report Share Posted January 24, 2007 Few days ago, i installed Mandriva Linux 2007 on my PC. Everything go smooth on my PC but this matter does"t last long. I am a newbie to computer. Any stupid question, please forgive me. I cann"t connect to internet. Not only that, MY LAN or etho is up but is not connected. I have try to click connect on the monitor network screen, unfortunately this also cann"t solved the difficulities i have encourted. I also configure a PPOE dialler for DSL conenctyion type. I was wonder how i going to connect internet without connect LAN first. Therefore, i hope that you guys can help me on this problem. Your help is greatly is appreaciated. Thanks for your help. Guest rxjxyz Posted January 24, 2007 Report Share Posted January 24, 2007 Hi, you can try delete and reconfigure DLS in the control center(use root, select all the options in the process), it should require you to install some softwares such as dhcp-client or dhcp-common, I have the similar problem with you, it turned out that these two softwares were not installed by default, i think it's a bug. Rik Posted January 25, 2007 Report Share Posted January 25, 2007 I had similar problem. Could not get a DHCP connection with 2007. Used to work ok with 2006. I have to use terminal window to make DHCP connect with this command: dhclient eth0 That always works. The gui network setting never works.
