Ethernet adapters work individually, not together

I have just installed Mandrill Free 2007 and its my first Linux O/S. I am running;

DFI Lanparty NF4 SLi-DR,

Athlon San-Diego 3700+,

Geforce 6800,

1Gig Corsair XMS Twin-X.

500G WD Storage

My board has 2 Ethernet adapters (Nvidia and Marvell 1Gbps each). In windows i had no problem running one to my router and the other to my Dell 3000cn. In Mandriva i have set the Nvidia to DHCP and the Marvell to Static. The printer IP address is 10.0.0.4. Both of the network controllers work fine alone but when eth0 and eth1 are both active the internet connection does not work and the printer continues working.

eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:01:29:FB:B7:E3

Has anyone got a clue how to fix this glitch?

Many thanks

Can you also post the output from 'netstat -rn' and 'cat /etc/resolv.conf'?

Edit: the output from 'lsmod' could be useful as well...

Saying that 'the internet connection does not work' could potentially cover a lot of different issues, so we need to do some simple diagnostics to be able to isolate the problem for you.

Hello, Tommy

Did You ever find an answer to this problem? I know what your talking about and am seeking the same thing... No luck so far though. :wall:

Remember, my goal here is to have both active and access to both internet and local lan.

Note: Cable modem is connected to eth0 via cat5. The local lan is connected to eth1 via a Linksys switch.

Thank You for the help!

Is your Linux actting as router/firewall ?..if not why dont you connect your modem/router to linksys and from there connect eth0 and other pc's..you should be having 4 port with your linksys ?

anyway ..this is for what you are trying to do:

use static ip on both the ethernet's on linux.i saw you are using 10.0.0.0/8 .why ?.... you can use 10.0.0.0/24 on eth1.

now give 192.168.1.X to your eth0 with mask 255.255.255.0 and default gateway 192.168.1.1 ( if this is your router's IP )

for eth1, give 10.0.0.1 ,255.255.255.0 default gate way as 192.168.1.1 (should be same as on eth0) enable NAT ipforwarding and i am sure this will work. if not pls. post ifconfig -a and route.
