Hello MYSTI.

 

With 120GbSATA HDDs, I have set / at 10Gb. A thing to consider is that although the OS will take up to 2.5Gb a number of applications use /temp e.g. K3B, Gimp just to name a couple I can think of at the moment. And burning an iso you can run out of space pretty quickly.

 

Yes 10Gb is a good guide for / on most large HDDs.

Typical normally is just KDE, so you're looking somewhere between 1GB-2GB. I usually select most of the packages down the left hand side on the selection screen, and on the right just KDE and Gnome.

 

That usually does an install about 2.2GB.

Ok, thanks guys. It should work then. I have my original hard drive in this computer and my first install was Mandrake 8.1. I let it auto-partition and it gave me about 2.6 gbs. I installed development in 2006 and it used up all my hard drive space. I was thinking with 2007, leaving out development it should fit. I know I can resize but if it will work then I'm not going to bother.
