SoulSe
We will need a little more info here... which graphic's card do you have? When you say '3d affects' do you mean 'direct rendering'? Which drivers did you use and how did you install them? Can we see your xorg.conf / XF86Config file?
studmuffin007
the graphic card i have is a nvidia 128mb gforce 4 and the 3d effects i was refering to were XGL or AIGLX so i get the cube back, the driver i used was the 9629 nvidia driver installed via mcc my xorg.conf file # File generated by XFdrake (rev 57713) # ********************************************************************** # Refer to the xorg.conf man page for details about the format of # this file. # ********************************************************************** Section "Files" # font server independent of the X server to render fonts. SoulSe
In this section over here: Section "Module" Load "dbe" # Double-Buffering Extension Load "v4l" # Video for Linux Load "extmod" Load "type1" Load "freetype" Load "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so" EndSection Try replacing Load "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so" with just Load "glx" Also remember to restart the X server before testing it again. Are you just trying glxgears? Have youchecked anywhere else? Try the following for a sure-fire check: $ glxinfo |grep direct (Hope I remembered all that correctly :P )
studmuffin007
Thanks SoulSe ive tried to replace what you advised but all i get is access denied. I ran the glxinfo |grep direct as SU and it returned direct rendering: No. Thanks
tyme
if you're running XGL as your 3d desktop at the time you run glxinfo then you will always receive direct rendering: no as the result.
