Official documentation for extant versions of Mandriva can be found at doc.mandriva.com.   Documentation for the latest release may take some time to appear there. You can install all the manuals from the main repository if you have Mandriva installed - files are prefixed mandriva-doc.

Video catpure with XawTV

Recommended Posts

I've been playing around with XawTV trying to get video capture to work . After adding the "-noxv" option at launch capture started working. I can now capture a .avi file but I don't get any sound. The source is my TV card, a WinTV theatre.

Suggestions?

Possibly useful info:

Mandrake 9.1 RC2 updated from Cooker

WinTV Theatre card

ABit AU10 (FM801) sound card

AMD 1.3gig & 512MB RAM

ATI Radeon 7000 32MB

XawTV Settings:

Movie driver: Microsoft AVI (RIFF) Format

Audio: 16bit mono (LE)

Sample Rate: 22050

Video Format: MJPEG (AVI)

Frames/sec: 10.0fps

Video size: 384x288

Launched with: -noxv

Video Source: TV tuner (PAL) (/dev/video0)

Things to check:

1. Does your card require that you run a jack from its audio out to the line-in on your sound card?

2. Have you checked your mixer settings? Is the appropriate port set for recording, and is the audio up?

3. Is the proper tuner module being loaded?

My TV card uses the line-in port on the sound card, not one of the internal connectors. I've just tried setting this as the recording source, but it didn't make any difference, still no sound.

The tuner and sound are setup properly, I think. The TV card works fine, sound and picture quality is good.
