photoworks
i have just freshly installed phpMyAdmin - 2.8.2.2-dev. it work just fine but in the previous versions there was the possibility of add a password. now as i log as usernane root and no password, when i get int phpmy admin,m it tell me : Your configuration file contains settings (root with no password) that correspond to the default MySQL privileged account. Your MySQL server is running with this default, is open to intrusion, and you really should fix this security hole. but there is no link to change password. Any ideas where to add a password ? neddie
Have you tried googling for "linux mysql password"? The first hit looks like it has the answer.
Gowator
If you don't wanna do it from the CLI then mysql-admin does it from the GUI as does webmin. Haven't used phpmy admin but perhaps its under a different category than ou expect? Either way change it quick! mysqladmin -p root password <new-password> (ps. didn't try that but it should work)
