Look at the news dated 10/7/02. Mandrake 9.0 distro for XBOX seems to be available.. Anyone crazy enough to try it? :)

 

Hmm... maybe xbox will replace dreamcast as the movable hacker tool of choice.. :)

what are the spec's for the xbox?

i found this on a search. hmmm seems like that powerfull 733 celeron would beat the arse of my 1800XP with 512mb ddr 333 ram 80Gigaflops of power WOW!!!!!!!!!!! :P

well why would you buy a computer for scientific calculations when you can get a xbox and utilise it's supercomputing capabilities!!

Typical Microsoft Marketting speak

 

XBox is basically a specialized pc. Think an Intel compatible cpu mated with NForce motherboard (maybe the vidcard is a bit better than GF2, but probably not much) without the bloatware called M$ Windows.

 

Believe it or not, PC actually have more raw processing power than any of the consoles that is out right now. It's just the OS and the API that sux. If you cut down the compatiblity problems, I think you can cut out at least 50% of the programming time.

i realised that that was bs!

It was afterall from micro$

 

I laugh as i see articles about affordable linux clusters where you can get 10Gflops for around $150,000 us!!!

 

80Gflop in an xbox indeed!
