oshunluvr
Scanning does not work with HP's multi-function devicesSee also bug_small.png Bug #26567. When printerdrake sets up an HP multi-function device (all models) automatically it does not recognize that the device has a built-in scanner and therefore does not install the packages needed for scanning. We will publish an official update fixing this problem in printerdrake soon. For an immediate fix download the fixed main.pm file and replace the original /usr/lib/libDrakX/printer/main.pm by it. Then remove your print queue with printerdrake and create a new one. This should initiate the installation of the scanning packages. I finally got printerdrake to work - but I can't find any reference to a print queue or how to delete it.

scarecrow
You can add i965 chipset (fairly common currenty for Core 2 Duo systems) not supported. I have not submitted a bug, but so far every distro with 2.6.17 kernel I've tried fails miserably- even the current 2.6.18 kernel support is far from perfect. Gowator
The weird thing is the way these are mixed up.... Some of these are absolutely critical and others less than trivial... Cannot create zip archives from KDE seems trivial... I know people need to create zips but if they mean by right clicking as opposed to opening a compression app then its not the end of the world, more a temporary workflow problem. - dbus system socket incorrectly namedsounds prety much a show stopper.... Scanning functionality of HP multi-function devices not detectedWell If I was running a small business from Mandriva then this would be critical. I realise there is a sort of voting system but you can't balance 1000 people wanting powermanga with 10 people who are using it for their business and can't scan.... can you? or because some French users have to temporarily use a different audio player ??? Its just my 2c I guess but security and business critical stuff is way more important (especially for a commercial distro) than games and audio players? )

AussieJohn
I thought my inability to zip a folder in kde in Mandriva2007 was on only my machine. Now I find it is a bug that others have experienced. Now I will just wait patiently for an update. Cheers. John.
iphitus
I thought my inability to zip a folder in kde in Mandriva2007 was on only my machine. Now I find it is a bug that others have experienced. Now I will just wait patiently for an update. Cheers. John. Be a true linux user and make a tar.bz2 instead ;) Mandrake need to radically change the way they develop. They need more experienced users, and reason for those users to remain on Mandriva. After learning the ropes, many find Mandriva a hindrance and move on to other distros, Gentoo, Arch, Debian, or even Fedora. It's just an entry level distro. Cooker exists, but it's not publicised -- it's very behind the scenes. Development of the distro, and major decisions, as far as I know, are handled internally. It's almost a closed development system. If you look at fedora/redhat, there's a lot of kernel developers, lots of application developers, and a large community of experienced users willing to test. Likewise for ubuntu. The result of this, is a high amount of bugs, that could easily be found with a proper development and testing scheme. New users don't want to use testing/unstable versions, and as a result, it's silly bugs like those in this release that get through. * SD cards are extremely common. How was that not picked up? * Beagle is a big feature is it not...? How come nobody noticed? (and im not even going to go into how they could have screwed that up in the first place) * Missing menu entries? Cmon. * Nexiuz out of date? That would mean nobody even tried it, as an out of date game can't connect to latest servers. Also implies problems in Mandrivas system of keeping packages up to date. * Incomplete dependencies...? Amateur mistake, I could quote tomboy's dependencies off my head. * OOo Writer not on MDV Discovery menus? * GTK Apps crashing due to theme? Mandriva have a history of stupid bugs. They need to improve their development system, and possibly also the distro... James
