PenguinPete
I have downloaded the 3 CD images for Mandriva 2006. They are shared (from a windows share //server/linux/mandrake/2006) I'd like to do a network install. How do I go about it? Mandriva One is already on the machine (but I will start from scratch). Do I need to burn CD1 or can I install it entirely from the network?
jboy
The Cooker HowTo page has a section on how to install from iso files on a local hard drive: Install from iso on local hard disk But the problem is that the iso files are on a windows share and not the local hard drive. You can mount the windows share on Linux as described here: Mount network folders manually You could mount the windows share and copy the iso files over the network to your existing Linux install, and use the first link above to install from them. But I'm not aware of a way to mount the individual .iso files on a Windows share on a different machine as a loopback device, which is what you would need to do. So unless somebody has a better idea, the options I know of are to either (1) copy the files over the network and mount them as described or (2) burn them to CD. JonEberger
if you're just doing this for one machine, it seems like a lot of difficulty.
arctic
Burning to CD is the least-troublesome procedure.
