Really this version of mandy 2007, i mean rc1 is very nice and really a 21 th. centuary linux production. Hopefully more wifi driver-support will be offered by Mandriva. Go on. Mandriva Linux distro is the best among the other dotens of linux distros. It stives to make our life with linux as easy as breathing. It worths to give it a try, sorry to USE it. I propose it for win users who try to be lured to Linux fantastic world. Do not hesitate folks. It is not VISTA RC1. It is more than a history. Believe me, I have given all the other linux distros a try, but always return back to my beloved distro, Mandriva. This is not a compliment. For me it is the truth. All my colleagues here on my job like it. Of course it is my special opinion. It does not unconditionally match yours.

Igen means yes in Hungarian. And those are his nicknames: cjc = chany = csanyi.

Though I don't know if Fahd understands it. He has an arabic name. Maybe he's just working here.

Idáig is elégedett voltam és most se lett rosszabb kedvem. A névre vonatkozó mondatot meg nem értem.

Sorry guys for the Hungarian chat.

How's the speed compared to other releases of Mandriva? Any significent improvement on that area?

I am closely tracking two Beta's.

Mandriva Cooker (now at Mona)

Ubuntu Edgy Eft (now at Knot-2)

I've even been able to dual boot them on the

same HD ( took awhile to work that out ).

I find that both distros are "faster" then

their previous releases and versions. IMO they

are working on "speed" on the Live-CD's such

that when you boot the Live-CD you get to a

working desktop as quick as possible. Once you

get either Distro installed on the HD they

both exhibit "faster" boots to a working desktop

then previous releases and versions.

But, having said that the install time to HD

can be significant. Especially on older computers.

Some really good news is that Mandriva has gone

to the single disk Live-CD as against back versions

that required the complete loading of most of 3 CD's

just to get you going.

As stand alone OS's, one OS, one HD, they boot

a Live-CD quickly to a working desktop then install

reasonably quickly providing you have a fairly

quick machine.

Note: I have ZERO experience using these OS's

where WinBlows presently resides on the HD.

I can only give the rough results I got on my AMD Sempron 2400+, 1 GB Ram.

Grub to login Manager:

Mandriva 2005: 48 seconds

Mandriva 2006: 36 seconds

Mandriva 2007: 27 seconds

Grub to fully loaded Gnome-Desktop:

2005: 62 seconds

2006: 48 seconds

2007: 36 seconds

Sorry guys for the Hungarian chat.

Minden esetre örülök neki hogy érdekli a mandylinux distro. Ha már kipróbálta mady 2007 rc1-t írja a véleményét. Köszi. I am eager to know your experience with mandy 2007 rc1. Hopefully the stable version will be more attractive, bleeding-edge free and ready to allure the other op. system-fans to linux world. The time of FOSS has arrived.
