for any1 that knows what windirstat is, i'm looking for a program that does something similar in linux. Basically its a program that makes it easier to visualize how much space everything on your hard drive takes up. I want to find out what is taking up so much space on one of my partitions, and i dont know of any easy way to do that other than with a program similar to windirstat.

if any knows a program, or another method to solve my issue, let me know!

TIA

You can also use the du command, included an example from my system below:

[ian@esprit ~]$ du Download | grep Atheros
3.4M	Download/Atheros/acs
0 Download/Atheros/acu/manual/_overlay
0 Download/Atheros/acu/manual/_vti_pvt
0 Download/Atheros/acu/manual/_borders
305K	Download/Atheros/acu/manual/_derived
0 Download/Atheros/acu/manual/_themes/online-help/_vti_cnf
0 Download/Atheros/acu/manual/_themes/online-help
0 Download/Atheros/acu/manual/_themes
0 Download/Atheros/acu/manual/images
698K	Download/Atheros/acu/manual
1.5M	Download/Atheros/acu
776K	Download/Atheros/Driver only for WinXPWin2KWinMEWin98se
1.1M	Download/Atheros/debug_athcfg11
6.1M	Download/Atheros/Install_CD
392K	Download/Atheros/linkmon
460K	Download/Atheros/Driver only for WinNT4/5211

this is just a sample, but you get the idea.

Not sure what windirstat is but try filelight

as root

urmpi filelight

yes filelight and the Konq file size views works great and show the info in 2 slightly different ways.

I can;t remember the specifics but to get the filesize view in Konq I had to install something, like maybe one of the kdeaddon packages. That was a long while ago though.

I personaly prefer the filelight view.
