I keep getting this error message in my terminal. What does it mean?

$ Mutex destroy failure: Device or resource busy

Oh and it is computer number 1.

You didn't give specifics about what GUI or WM you use or your video card or when this error occurs, but I found some info about koffice apps like kword and stuff here (KDE 3.01, I think):

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41867

Maybe that's it?

Okay I think I should make this list and have it available for copying and pasting. :)

Sorry about forgetting.

GNOME 2.2

Maxtor 80 Gig HD (Linux)

Western Digital 60 Gig HD

AMD XP 2000+

2 Gig Ram

Sony DVD

Sony CD-RW

SIS 900 Fast Ethernet Onboard

SIS 7012 Sound

Video Card: Nividia GForce4

MDK 9.1 RC1

The thing is that I open up a Terminal, nothing is running and I get this error message. THanks for the link but I don't use KDE or KOffice.

What the heck is Mutex anyway?

Mutex has something to do with locking variables in memory. Over my head. It may have something to do with your bash profile or bashrc being corrupted....just a wild guess. Maybe someone will come along that knows the answer. Sorry I couldn't help.

Thanx anyway. I've been searching on the web and trying to find answers. *SIGH* oh well it's just annoying not really affecting anything. But now of course my Galeon Browser has died. Just won't start, and sucks all my CPU power. *SLURP* I have to open up GNOME System monitor and kill it.

I must have done something stoopid. I uninstalled it and re-installed it and still have the same prob.
