arctic
Finally got the sound problem solved. It was indeed a wrong snd-intel module. It took me some time to find the right one. ASrock mobos with sis onboard sound don't seem to be so common. Now the next task: fixing the permissions for multimedia stuff (DVD playback and such) and finding out why I have two CD and DVD drives in Gnome but only one entry of each device in fstab. tyme
don't put entries in fstab for your removable media (udev handles it). add yourself to the optical group, too.
arctic
Multimedia stuff is also fixed. :) I am already added to the optical group, so that's no prob. But I wonder however why the system sets up cd and dvd entries in fstab automatically if it uses udev that - as it seems - doesn't need extra fstab entries. Time for distro polishing. ;)
