Lexicon
Upgrade to Mandriva 2006 version ....Lex
ianw1974
Don't see why it's not possible, providing you have set up the repositories for thacs/mde, you should be fine. I've never attempting compiling from source, but you could always give it a go :P Mandriva 2006 only has KDE 3.4.
dexter11
Do thac and Ze compile for 2005LE too? Aioshin if you choose to upgrade to 2006 I suggest to use the SoS repo instead of mde. It has more stable packages IMHO. KDE 3.5.3 for 2006 is here: http://www.seerofsouls.com/rpms.php?type=r.../i586/KDE-3.5.
ianw1974
Afaik, what I remember, they had compiled previously, but I'm unsure if their existing versions are only for 2006, or if they are generic for Mandriva as a whole. I've not used any of these repos since my previous versions.
scarecrow
The Thac RPM's for Mandy 2005 are for KDE 3.4.2 Mixing 2006.0 repos (ANY repos, not just SoS and mde) with 2005LE ones is equivalent to asking for trouble, IMHO. Chances are that the system will blow up on your face. If you want the latest and greatset, then either compile it from source (easier said than done), or use a bleeding edge distro. aioshin
so, no one really out there made an RPM of kde 3.5.3 to a lower version of Mandriva... . hmmnn.. opensuse and fedora contributors are more hardworking I think, since kde 353 are available on their previous released version... . oh mandy, If not only for your good drak(e) utilities (IMO), I've already replaced you.. . well, I think I'll stick around with my le2005-kde342, Until I figured out how to compile 353 myself from source :P
Lexicon
compile 353 myself from source :P Kde 3.5.3 needed new perl library!!!!. Add to urpmi repository from Thacs and EasyUrpmi Official!! plf and Main. This is very easy ....Lex

Actually it needs a wee bit more than that: http://www.kde.org/info/requirements/3.5.php ...plus some hacked distro-specific configure scripts, and maybe a properly working Konstruct builder... which actually will not create any RPM's, that you must build yourself after finishing "make", and taking care not screwing the approx. 1,217 dependencies when writing the .spec files! Very easy indeed, I agree with you.
